SANTA MONICA AIRPORT INSTALLATION
‘My most recent installation was mounted at the Propeller Gallery, Santa Monica Airport Arts Center as part of the ‘Between Darkness and Dawn’ exhibit that I curated in Fall 2026. The large-scale paintings from my graphic novel, Germaine’s Daughter and my piece ‘Big Daddy’ surrounded the viewer in my own dedicated room.
For a one-day installation within the longer show, I set up a 1950-1960’s era home with period furniture — a desk, chair, sewing machine, ironing board and iron, bookcase, and artifacts from my childhood with my Holocaust survivor mother who became psychotic, and about my absent father — images of documents from the Second World War in France, the War in the U.S., photos of the family history, letters from that history, clothing and jewelry from the family, pill vials, Yiddish books, childhood diaries and photo albums of the family. I then took photos and filmed myself in period clothing sitting at the desk writing to the family and reading their letters. French music played in the background. I hope to expand on this installation at other, larger, venues in the near future.’
